Although this product contains plastic as an insulating and design element, it is green because the ecological benefits of reducing disposables are greater than the environmental and health costs of this plastic. Very little plastic is used, and it's used in the right way. The lid (not the slider on the lid) is made of Polypropylene, the #5 plastic also used for most food containers. The slider is made of ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene), which is used for LEGO blocks and plastic clarinets. The outer shell is acrylic. Hand-washing is recommended.
